Newcomers Club of New Bern

Introducing New Bern to you!

Book Group

Activity Leader - Jeanne Julian (jmcjulian@yahoo.com) and Sue Rokaw (scrlaw@yahoo.com).

The Book Group will meet to talk about the novels noted on the last Wednesday of February, March, and April from 1 to 3 p.m. at the home of one of our group members.

Members Choose titles, usually fiction; we try to choose a book that you can get from a library. Discussions are informal, usually with a designated "leader" to start thing off.

Book Group

On the last day of November, about a dozen members of the Book Group discussed Pictures of You by Caroline Leavitt. In general, we liked aspects of the book but it didn't seem to be a group favorite. We were more impressed with a cake made from scratch by our host, Melinda Mantel of Greenbrier.

A blessed companion is a book--a book that, fitly chosen, is a lifelong friend . . . a book that, at a touch, pours its heart into our own."
